FLOORING

These questions cover flooring.

  • Smooth edge is a timber strip with angled nails  also known as a tack strip, gripper rod or, carpet gripper.

Smooth edges are a standard element of carpet installations and are installed around the perimeter of rooms and on staircases.

They use upward pointing tacks to grip the carpet and hold it under tension, so it remains in place, and also provides a clean looking finish. It may be possible to feel the smooth edge pins through the carpet after it has been installed.

If you can feel the smooth edge pins in your carpet note it on your 12 month inspection list and Home Assist will take care of it on your service day.

  • A few simple maintenance procedures need to be followed in order to keep your carpet, timber, hardwood, laminate or floating floors in immaculate condition.

We recommend referring to your manufacturer's cleaning tips.

  • Please take a couple of photos of the damage, close up and from a distance so  the surrounding floor is visible and email them to the Home Assist team on service@homeassist.com.au for assessment.

  • Timber flooring requires special care. It may be necessary to tint windows or draw shades to prevent unfiltered direct sunlight from fading or changing the colour of the floor or causing excessive expansion and contraction which may damage the timber floor.

It is important to protect your floor from installation as damage from sunlight is not covered under warranty.
